As of January 2006 the Pleasant Grove Volunteer Fire Station Has 17 Active Members and 7 Reserve. We run 1 Engine, 1 Rescue, and 1 Tanker. The Pleasant Grove Volunteer Fire Station was established in 1979, the first Fire Station was built and tore down before an Engine could be placed in it. The Building materials set on the ground for about 1-2 years before Mr. Dothal Martin of Pleasant Grove Community gave the Fire Department a piece of land located at the intersection of Old Highway 84 Loop Road and Pleasant Grove-Sandersville Road to build on. As years went by the Station began to grow and more room was needed to continue to grow, unable to get more land at that location the station had to move. The Pleasant Grove Baptist Church donated land so the community would have better fire protection because the new station would house newer and better fire equipment. As far as I know the Station has 6 of it's original members 3 of which are still active firefighters. Some of the first Captains of the station where Tommy Pitts, Ronald Overstreet, James (Jim) Easterling, Vic Lee. The Captain of the station know is David Holbrook and has been the Capt. for about 10 years.
